breathwork

the Science of Breathwork

This is a truly unique time on our planet and many of us have been feeling increased levels of stress during this challenging period. As a Certified Yoga Teacher and Breathwork Coach, I hold regular workshops to help alleviate stress  and promote wellbeing through the truly remarkable and scientific practice of breathwork.

This breathwork methodology can help you increase your energy and focus, boost your immune system, reduce stress and also help you enter a deep meditative state in minutes. We live in uncertain times that are volatile, unpredictable, ambiguous, and complex. How do we regulate our internal world and navigate the external world in these conditions? It is more important than ever to keep our immune system in good health.  Various breathwork practices have been practiced by CEOs and professionals to accelerate cognitive performance and increase productivity. Athletes have been using it to increase their endurance and performance. Navy Seals engage in the practice during high-stress situations to calm their nervous system and Yogis have been using it for thousands of years to enter deep meditative states. These practices help regulate our autonomic nervous system and have been proven by science to be anti-inflammatory.

This scientifically proven method of rhythmic breathing has the potential to instantly switch from the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight response) to the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). Unfortunately, our system is perpetually living in the fight or flight response in the modern era and hence, flooded with stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. This leads to a host of negative consequences for our body and mind. It’s good news that we can learn to master our autonomous nervous system through our breath!

I am excited to be facilitating this session. You will learn how to consciously change the depth, rhythm, and rate of your breath to hack the signals transmitted from the body’s respiratory system to the neural pathways in the brain. We will be using a combination of breathing in beats to brainwave music, creative visualisation, and meditation techniques to enter optimal states of consciousness. For best results, please refrain from eating 2-3 hours before the session.

Breathwork is becoming increasingly popular today and for good reason. The latest scientific research on the subject demonstrates a wide variety of benefits when practiced regularly.

NOTE: Please consult a doctor before undertaking the practice if you have existing medical conditions.
